Overview

Dream is a desktop app designed to help users visualise their goals, understand internal blocks, and organise their lives in a more meaningful way. Inspired by Carl Jung’s theory of identities and shadows, the app allows users to externalise different aspects of themselves, not just for reflection, but to take structured, creative action towards personal transformation.

Problem

Many people struggle to stay motivated and organised when pursuing personal goals. Traditional to-do lists and productivity tools often overlook the emotional and psychological forces involved — the parts of us that want change, and the parts that resist it. Dream set out to explore a different approach: what if visualising your inner identities could help you move forward?

Solution

I designed a desktop experience centred around the concept of internal personas: “identities” representing the different versions of yourself working towards specific goals, and “shadows” representing subconscious blocks or self-sabotaging patterns.

Users can create identities using generative AI, giving each one a visual form to strengthen presence and intent. Tasks, projects, and practices can be assigned to these identities, reinforcing commitment and emotional connection. Shadows, while not actionable, are acknowledged in the interface to promote self-awareness.

Dream also lets users visualise their goals with AI-generated imagery, turning abstract intentions into tangible, evocative scenes. All commitments and activities are brought together in a central dashboard, merging reflection and execution in one unified space.

The result is a speculative yet poetic productivity tool; one that blends AI, psychology, and design to help users feel more emotionally connected to their ambitions.
