Overview

Avanti is an MVP designed to provide more accurate, real-time predictions on how busy public venues such as bars, restaurants and cafés are, helping users decide where and when to go. The aim was to create a user-friendly interface similar to Google Maps, but powered by more reliable data and predictive AI.

Problem

Although platforms like Google Maps already indicate how busy places are, their insights are often based on limited user data and general patterns. Avanti set out to improve on this by using AI to generate smarter, more precise wait-time predictions, giving users better information to plan their outings, particularly in busy cities or at peak times.

Solution

My role focused on laying the foundations of the interface and user flow. I began by researching similar apps to identify shared patterns, gaps and user expectations. I then designed the core screens of the experience: a map view highlighting nearby venues, the option to select a location, and a detailed view showing current busyness alongside predicted wait times. The visual language followed a familiar map-based approach to minimise friction and ensure the MVP felt instantly intuitive.
